    Description

I have to say right at the top that this is a great sounding digital tuner from Yamaha that was pretty much the best you could buy from them when it was made. Sensitive and quiet immediately come to mind when listening to this piece. It certainly has an ability to pull in stations and was able to provide quiet, full stereo reception of the NPR station that's usually noisy even with mono-blend on most other tuners. While these are the obvious traits to look for in a tuner, I should also add that it really does sound good! I must admit that I'm not a huge fan of radio, but this tuner really had me thinking twice as it seemed to be able to put out some very high quality sound! Perhaps it's the ability to make the most of the signal, or Yamaha's tradition of fine sounding audio circuit design, or probably both! Regardless, I have heard few tuners that  can match this one! This piece also looks fantastic! The styling is very sleek and elegant and the condition is virtually mint in all respects. This is about half the height of a typical component which does aid in placement in the system.
As far as features, this has ten presets, a Local/DX button which optimizes the IF bandwith for best reception of local or distant stations (there's also an auto switch option), stereo/mono button which doubles for auto/manual tuning, and a record calibration tone. This last feature is especially useful for home recordists as it outputs a fully modulated tone that is used to set the record level of your tape deck. In an instant, perfect recording levels can be set before the program even begins! Finally, the signal strength meter doubles as a multiplex interference indicator at the push of a button. Since most poor sound from FM is directly related to multipath distortion problems, it amazes me that more tuners don't offer this option to aid in antenna placement. If you're looking for a really nice tuner with great sound and looks, then look no further! Buyer pays actual shipping. Don't Miss out!
